UX Testing Round 2

Updated: Mar 21, 2021

For round 2 of user testing, we will be conducting testing with users who are fully unaware of the construction of our rooftop tent. We plan to have users use the instruction booklet and install the rooftop tent on top of their vehicle (along with 1 person assisting with lifting). Overall, we hope to gauge the overall ease of installation with the new shell/roof installed.

We want to:

  • Discover how intuitive the overall process of installation is for users

  • Ensure that there is enough space for users inside the tent

  • Test the structural integrity of the overall unit on the car

  • Validate that our brochure/manual works for consumers

Our questions will include:

  • Tell us about the process of installation

  • What did you struggle with?

  • What aspects did you find easy?

  • How do you feel about the size of the tent?

  • Do you feel comfortable having this on top of your car?

  • Is this something that you would leave on top of your car or remove/install often?

  • Were the instructions easy to follow?

  • How do you feel about the mounting system?

  • Do you have any concerns about the overall design?

We are very close to finishing off the tent (90%) and we have conducted a lot of UX testing for both the color scheme, marketing materials, and instruction booklet. We also got good pricing feedback. Users appeared most likely to pay less than $1,000 for the full unit which fits within our goals for the whole project.

We also got great feedback on the overall design. We ended up making our own canvas sheeting versus using the old tent. This will be much more aesthetic and cohesive with the overall direction we were going for. The zipper system was also influenced by user feedback.
