We met with a professional at Colorado Teardrops, Derek Tatum, for our mentor meeting. Derek offered feedback on a variety of aspects of the rooftop tent. Here are a few key takeaways:
Do more research into how our fabric will fold once the tent is collapsed.
Look into using a more simple attachment method. The brackets seem a bit unnecessarily complex.
The overall design looks great and he loved the drawer sliding mechanism.
He mentioned that this was much lighter than other rooftop tents that he has installed. Often they require 3-4 people to lift up and install (or sometimes even a forklift!) but ours is easily installed with just 2 people.
Keep making things as simple as possible (consider how we can let users install the unit without measuring things).
He is curious and excited to see our end project!
